Arts & Crafts

Art is a favourite pastime for many locals and you can find their art in local restaurants, cafes and studios across the island.

Most artists on Great Barrier work from home and allow visitors to view their work by prior arrangement. The Aotea Community Art Gallery located in Claris/Kaitoke has a variety of local artists' work constantly on display. Permanent displays of works by local artists may also be seen at the gallery located at the Currach Irish Bar in Tryphena, and some works are on display at Claris Texas Cafe.
